When I witnessed Mike Van De Ven, then-COO of Southwest Airlines collecting the trash on a late night flight, I realized THIS is an act of unexpected service. After reminding the disciples of His cross ahead, Jesus taught them the same truth: true greatness (and leadership) is service. In his amazing way, Jesus transformed the selfish request of James and John into His bequest that we be people so motivated by His sacrifice for us that we serve unselfishly.
